1972 Hat

What is the Hat?

The 1972 Hat was created to honor a pivotal moment in Notre Dame’s history: the decision to admit women as undergraduate students in 1972. This groundbreaking change forever transformed the University, enriching its legacy of excellence with the contributions of women leaders, scholars, and visionaries. Inspired by this milestone, the 1972 Hat has become an enduring symbol of progress and empowerment.

Available exclusively at the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore and online, the hat supports the Hesburgh Women of Impact initiative, helping to fund programs and initiatives that advance Notre Dame’s mission.
